About me
Russell Rybicki is currently Second horn with the North Carolina Symphony and is the hornist and an arranger for the Monarch Chamber Players. Previously, he held positions in the San Antonio Philharmonic, the former San Antonio, Symphony, the Vancouver Symphony and the New World Symphony. He has played with the Dallas Symphony, Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet, Rochester Philharmonic, the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra, The NuDeco Ensemble, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, the National Orchestral Institute and Festival, l'Orchestre de la Francophonie, and the Castleton Music Festival. He has won various competitions including a bronze medal in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, the Brighton Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and the National Music Festival Concerto Competition. Russell was selected to perform Esa-Pekka Salonen's Concert Étude during Salonen's residency at Northwestern. He has also performed in the jazz idiom, and was a member with the Grammy Award Winning Gil Evans Centennial Jazz Ensemble at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy.

Russell completed his graduate studies at Northwestern University and his undergraduate degree at the Eastman School of Music studying horn and instrumental Music Education. At Eastman he was awarded the distinguished Performer’s Certificate. His primary teachers include Gail Williams, Jonathan Boen, W. Peter Kurau and Derek Conrod. Russell has worked with artists such as Lowell Greer, Kristy Morrell, and Adam Unsworth.

Russell is also a certified Holistic Life Coach certified through the Holistic Coaching Training Institute. He is passionate about the deep personal work involved in self-acceptance and self-compassion through a holistic process. Find out more on the Coaching page.
